Foad Asadi | Filmmaker & Film Instructor

Foad Asadi is a writer, director, actor, and film instructor whose work spans both narrative and documentary cinema. His films explore memory, identity, migration, and philosophical questions about the human condition.

His films, including Dreamless Sleep (2020), I am Canadian (2024), and Melody of Loss (2026), have been screened and received awards at international film festivals in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Brazil, Peru, Iran, and many other countries.

In addition to his filmmaking practice, Foad Asadi teaches film production and storytelling at Algonquin College and leads filmmaking workshops that combine cinematic theory, creative exercises, and practical production, with a particular focus on low-budget filmmaking from idea to execution.

He is also the curator of Iranian Cinema Night in Canada and a member of the Independent Filmmakers Association of Iran (IFMA).
